Reid A. Millard, Funeral Director, Owner
Reid Millard’s grandparents operated Millard’s Garden & Gift flower shop, and their neighbors owned the local funeral parlor in the little town of Brilliant, Ohio. At the age of twelve, Reid began working at the funeral parlor. After attending Wheeling Jesuit College, he graduated as Valedictorian of Commonwealth College of Mortuary Service in Houston, Texas and he became a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He worked for America’s largest funeral company for nearly ten years. In 1990 Reid acquired the Houser Funeral Home from Gideon Houser and continues the tradition of excellence. Today Reid is known throughout the United States for seminars that he has presented to funeral directors on pre-arranged funeral programs, personalizing services, and understanding grief.

Eric Slater, Funeral Director
Eric Slater is both a Professionally Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He grew up in Houston, Texas and was a 1990 graduate of the Institute of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. He started his career with Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in 1991.
Eric has two children– Landon and Makenzie. Together, their family enjoys local youth sports programs and outdoor activities. Eric also coaches youth baseball, basketball and soccer. He enjoys playing golf and softball, he and is always up to date on local and national sports news.
Professionally, Eric has served hundreds of families. By focusing on each individual families needs, he is able to provide them helpful information, guidance and options, so that each family can make informed decisions.
“Personally, I feel through the loss of my teenage sister Pam in 1984, my father Tony in 1999 and most recently my mother Sharon in 2005, I am better able to help others because I understand what our family went through. Although I can’t take away the pain of others loss of a loved one, I can help make things a little easier during a difficult time by being there for your family personally and providing compassion, care and guidance.”

Julie Erwin, Apprentice Funeral Director
Julie Erwin joined Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in 2017 and is an Apprentice Funeral Director. She is married to David Erwin and they have two children: Angel Hawkins, Brandon Erwin and three grandchildren Celina, Ebonee and Devin Hawkins.
Julie retired from the Missouri Army National Guard in 2015 with 28 years of honorable service to our state and country. She earned her Bachelor Degree from Columbia College and is a life long resident of Jefferson City. She is a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, American Legion Post 0317 and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Kelly Sedgwick, Funeral Director
Kelly Sedgwick has worked for Millard Family Chapels since January 2014, and became a licenses Funeral Director in June 2015. She is married to Bill Sedgwick and they have three children: Maddie, Michelle and Maximus.
Kelly previously worked for Miller County EMS for 16 years. She has numerous years of experience in the funeral home business, since her parents Doug and Joann Cantriel owned and operated Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home from 1982 to 2006.
She is a member of the California United Church of Christ, Eldon's Lions Club, Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Lake Area Professional Business Women's Association, Lake Ozark Rotary Club, Eldon Chamber of Commerce, Victoria Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, National Registry for Emergency Technicians, and Missouri EMS Association.
Mark Millard, Jr., Preneed Agent/Funeral Planner
Mark Millard is a licensed Preneed Agent and Life Insurance Agent for Millard Family Chapels. Mark traveled from West Virginia to Missouri during summer vacations to help his Uncle Reid with his new funeral home in 1990 and 1991. Cutting grass, washing cars, and valet parking for visitations were mostly what the job entailed. After graduating from Wheeling Jesuit University in 1996 with a Bachelors of Accountancy, Mark packed his belongings to make Missouri his home. Early on Mark assisted with some business acquisitions like Caplinger’s Clothing for Men, Gold’s Gym, Chase Limousine, and Busch’s Florist.
Customer Service and Community Service has always been a calling for Mark. At Lanier Worldwide Mark earned many leadership awards for his dedicated Customer Service. At wetsuCREATIVE, Mark helped a friend, Jason Jett become one of the most recognized names for a graphic design firm in the Jefferson City area. In 2006, Mark was selected as one of Jefferson City’s 40 under 40.
Mark is a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Jefferson City and is involved in the community. He volunteers as a YMCA soccer coach and has been involved with several community agencies including the March of Dimes, Boys & Girls Club, Samaritan Center, and the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce. Mark coordinates the Christmas Luminary & Remembrance Service and the Memorial Day Services at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Mark mostly enjoys spending time with his family. He met his wife Jana (Raithel) at Steve’s Family Style Restaurant and they were married in 1998. Jana is the Leasing Manager for deVille Southwest and Hidden Oaks apartment complexes. Mark and Jana have two boys, Braden and Alex. Both Braden and Alex attend Jefferson City Public Schools.
The most rewarding part of Mark’s career is seeing first hand how appreciative families are of our funeral pre-planning service. Mark says, “The initial reaction when the process is done is one of relief for our families. It’s the kind of relief you get when you’ve finally finished that project you’ve put off for years. You get a sense of accomplishment out of taking the burden off other family members.”

Jeff Hilke has been a part of Millard Family Chapels since he was in high school. Jeff, a 1992 graduate of Jefferson City High School, started as a parking lot assistant at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in Jefferson City. Following high school, he attended Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas, one of the leading colleges of Mortuary Science in the United States, where he graduated with honors. He is both a professionally licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Most people know Jeff by his towering 6’4” structure and his gentle smile.
Jeff enjoys going to Cardinal Baseball games and University of Missouri sporting events.
Jeff is active in the Jefferson City Evening Lions Club, serves on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation and Missouri Business Opportunities for Missouri Blind, and was elected to serve as District Governor of Missouri Lions District 26-M7 for the 2013-2014 Lions year. You may also see him working the streets or maintaining order as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Cole County Sheriff’s Office or as a Deputy Marshal with the Cole County Circuit Court.

Douglas J. Cantriel, Funeral Director
Doug Cantriel has worked for Millard Family Chapels since November of 2008. He is married to Joann Cantriel. He has two children: Douglas J. Cantriel, Jr. and Kelly Sedgwick (Bill) and their daughters: Maddie and Michelle.
Doug previously owned and operated Bowlin-Cantriel from 1982 to 2006.
He is a member of the California United Church of Christ and Centertown American Legion in Centertown.
He enjoys watching St. Louis Rams Football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and St. Louis Blues Hockey. He loves being with his family especially his grandchildren.
Kevin Boeckman, Funeral Assistant
Kevin Boeckman has worked for Millard Family Chapels since 2010. He is married to Debra; and they have three children. Daughter Courtney Pleus (husband Jeff) and their children Linley & Cader; Kyle Boeckman (wife Kylie) and their daughter: Brooklyn and Kelly Carrender (husband Lee) and their twins: Levie and Kaylynn.
Kevin worked at the Office of Administration for 31 years and retired 2010.
He is a member of the St. Martins Catholic Church where he has served on Parish Council – Administration Commission. He belongs to St. Martins Knights of Columbus, where he has previously served as Grand Knight.
Kevin loves to spend time on their cow and deer farm. He currently has a small lawn mower business. When not working “everywhere” Kevin enjoys golfing.
Danny Boyce, Funeral Assistant
Danny Boyce has worked at Millard Family Chapels since 2006. Danny is married to Claudia and they have two children: daughter - Dana Pritchard and son - Clinton Boyce son. They have one grandson Brandon Howlett and one great-grandson Daniel Paul Pritchard.
Danny worked at the Jefferson City Fire Department from 1978 to until his retirement in 2004. He currently works part time for Cole County Concrete since 1996 to the present time.
He is a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Jefferson City and is a member of the American Legion. Danny has many hobbies, if not working you can find him, boating, fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling. He also likes Nascar and baseball.
Ambrose Buechter, Funeral Assistant
Ambrose has worked for Millard Family Chapels since 2011. Ambrose’s wife Pamela Sue is deceased. His girlfriend is Cindy Renick. He has one son: Joe Buechter and wife Heidi, and their two children, Sam and Corbin.
Ambrose worked at Check Office Equipment – 1971 – 1978, Modern Business Systems / Ikon Office Solutions/Ricoh Americas Corp. 1978 where he retired from in 2011.
He belongs to St. Peters Catholic Church, Jefferson City and St. Martins Knight of Columbus Council 7194. In his spare time he enjoys crappie fishing and motorcycle riding.
Byron Buhr, Funeral Assistant
Bryon Buhr has worked for Millard Family Chapels since 2002. He is married to Kathy and they have four children. Kevin, Karen, Susan husband (Dan) Wilson, Mike wife (Amy). Grandchildren: Emily (Josh) Barrett, Amanda Buhr, Ryan, Rebecca, Joshua and Emma Wilson.
Byron was a teacher at Faith Lutheran School 1963-1966, counselor and employment career supervisor, Missouri Division of Employment Security 1966 until his retirement in 2000. He currently works part time with Whaley’s Drug Store Ambassador from 2005 to present.
Byron is a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Jefferson City, where he is a teacher, on the board of Elders, Church Council member at large.
Byron is a member of the Capitol City Friends of Amtrak and Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau. He has volunteered numerous years at the Able Book Sale.
Bryon enjoys hiking, bicycle riding, fishing and traveling.

Artwin “Art” Ehrhardt has worked for Millard Family Chapels since 2000.
Art is married to Delemar “Del” and they have four daughters: Denise Ziegelbein (husband Keith); Danielle Rakow (husband Ed); Donita Smith (husband Chevis) and Dorinda Zacharis (husband Vaughn).
Art is still farming after many years. He belongs to Trinity Lutheran Church, Jefferson City and has served on the board for – Three Rivers Electric and Central Electric. He is a member of the American Legion Post #5, Farm Bureau, Lohman Lions, Lohman Community Association and the VFW Post 1003.

Jim Haslag has worked for Millard Family Chapels since 2006. He is married to Deanna and they have three children: Tessa Scheperle and her husband Bill and their children: Emily, Cara, Anna, James, Greg Haslag and his wife Alicia and their children: Allen, and Reagan, and Julie Rummerfield and her husband Doug children: Travis, Cody, Dakota, and Austin.
Jim worked as Art Instructor for the Jefferson City Public Schools from 1974 until his retirement in 2004. He served as the Visual Arts Chairperson Jefferson Cilty High School from 1988-2004.
He is a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit. He has been a music minister for 30 plus years. Jim is a member of the St. Andrew’s Knights of Columbus. Jim enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, rving, bowling, visual arts related activities, singer, songwriter, blue grass and Christian Music.

Virginia (Gini) Heckman has been working at Millard Family Chapels since 2001. Her husband Wil is deceased. She has four children: Greg and Sandy Dorge and their children: Clayton and Kyle; Teir and Craig Burchelt and their children: Kristen and Carmen; Dennis and Judy Heckman and their children Jordan and Blake; and Dr. Abby and Dr. Walt Coats and their children: Norah and Alex.
Gini previously worked for Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) retiring in April 2014. She is a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City. She enjoys flowers, reading and exercising.

Don Jefferson joined Millard Family Chapels in 2011. He was born and raised in Columbia, graduating from Hickman High School. He also attended State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO.
Don retired from State Farm Insurance in July of 2010 after 34 years as a IT Specialist.
In June of 2016 Don retired from the Boone County Fire District after serving for 40 years. He began as a firefighter working his way up to Lieutenant and then to Captain. Upon retiring, he was functioning as Safety Officer for the fire district.
Don is a lifelong member of the Second Baptist Church of Columbia where he serves as the Transportation Coordinator, an audio-visual technician, and is a member of the trustee board.
John Jenkins, Funeral Assistant
John Jenkins has worked for Millard Family Chapels August 1995. John Jenkins wife Pauline is deceased. They have two daughters: Shrlene Jenkins and Donna Sue Thomas.
John was employed at Mexico Flying Service 1944-1961; Columbia Flying Service 1955-1957; Military Flight Training 1957-1959; Malden AFB 1959-1961; Leman Flying Service, Kansas City, Mo. 1961-1963; Warrensburg National Guard Maintenance Officer 1963-1976; Jefferson City Army Aviation Commander 1976-1985; and Staff for Life 1985-1995.
John is a member of House of Prayer Family Church where he is a greeter.
John belongs to the Elk’s Lodge in Warrensburg, American Legion, VFW Post 1003, Order of Dardalians, and Quiet Birdmen.
Fred Kolb, Funeral Assistant
Fred Kolb has worked at Millard Family Chapels since 2011. He is married to Becky and they have two children: a daughter Andrea Holley (husband Brian) and their children Brianna, Peyton, Cameron, and Mason; and a son Zach Kolb (wife Amy) and their children Olivia, and Tenley.
Fred worked at the Division of Employment Security 1975-1983; Office of Administration – State Data Center 1983-1990 and Office of Administration 1996 until his retirement in 2011.
Fred is a member St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Russellville where he is a Eucharastic Minister and a greeter/usher. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8916.
Fred’s hobbies include: hunting and fishing, raising a few cattle, teaching grandkids to hunt and fish. Most of all just spending time with family his greatest blessing.

Henry A. McMichael has worked for Millard Family Chapels since 1996. He is married to Mert and they have five children: Stephen McMichael and his wife Angie and their children: Maggie and Emily, Dena Jaegers and her husband Lee and their children: Tyler, Collen, and Devin, Kristina Schwant and her husband Scott and their children: Gavin, and Payten, James McMichael and his wife Daw and their children: Aaron, Austin and Addison, and their daugther Catrina McMichael is deceased.
Henry served in the Army for three years - active duty in Vietnam. He worked for NCR/ ATT for 32 years retiring in 1994. For several years built homes with this sons and then on his own. He is part owner of McMichael Realty with his daughter and son-in-law.
Henry is a member of St. Andrews Church, Holts Summit and is one of the original members. At St. Andrews he was past president of parish council. Co-chairman for the building of the church. greeter, Eucharistic Minister, choir. He served on School Board and Parish Council at St. Peters Catholic Church in Jefferson City. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Holts Summit Betterment Association, Home Builders Association, National Association of Realtors, Missouri Association of Realtors and Jefferson City Board of Realtors.
Henry loves his farm and cattle, enjoys fishing, traveling and most of all his grandchildren, which all ten live near him.

Stanley Scott has worked at Millard Family Chapels since 2003. Stanley is married to Mona and they have one daughter Emily D. McNeal (Eric) and grandson Kellen Scott McNeal.
Stan worked at Missouri Power and Light Co. 1971-1983; Ameren Missouri (Callaway Nuclear Power Plant) 1983 where he retired from in 2001.
Stan is a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a Deacon in 1991.
Stan is a life member of Samuel F. Gearhart Detachment Marine Corps League where he is the Chaplain. He is a life Life time member of Roy Sone Post 1003 Veterans of Foreign Wars (Vietnam Veteran) and a member of the Jefferson City Veterans Council.
Stan’s hobbies are: participating in local veteran’s activities, working out at local gym, watching St. Louis Cardinals, feeding and watching backyard birds, and writing poetry.
